Adornments

“Pare down to the essence, but don’t remove the poetry” - Leonard Koren

In our modern society, crafts made by the hands are under threat, often replaced by the fast and cheaply machine produced. In some cultures, however, such as in Japan, there exists not only hope, but comfort on craft and hand-made objects are celebrated. Through them, a connection between heart and hands enters lives and homes.

Wabi-Sabi, originated in Zen Buddhism and Taoism, encourages us to shift our focus and appreciate the beauty in things that hold deeper meaning than the overproduced and perfect.

Making objects driven by a nature-based aesthetic, each one of its kind and acted from the love of the hand-made, is my way to connect with our humanness. These adornments for the home are the expression of all that.

Rock Candle Holders

The poetry embedded in millions of years in the formation of rocks, with their beauty rooted in the values of Wabi-Sabi is the inspiration for these candle holders.

Through them, the intent is to bring to light, in the contemporary context, an acceptance of the natural cycle of life, the simple, the irregular, asymmetric and the beauty of roughly torn clay.
